Carbon Fiber Paint Correction for Exotics & Track-Bred Cars
Why Carbon Fiber Needs a Different Playbook
Unlike steel or aluminum panels, carbon fiber typically carries a thinner, more heat-sensitive clear. Standard heavy-cut approaches can create micro-marring, edge burn, or even gloss mismatch across the weave. Our method prioritizes temperature control, pad selection, and limited sets of measured passes so you get clarity without sacrificing material.
Inspection First: Mapping Risks Before We Touch a Polisher
We start under calibrated lighting to identify defects, resin telegraphing, and prior repair work. Edges, vents, and tight contours are flagged for hand work. If we detect clear failure, yellowing in the resin, or past sanding marks, we’ll advise honest limits and set expectations before correction begins.
Ceramic & PPF for Carbon Fiber
Once clarity is restored, we lock it in. Ceramic coatings boost gloss and chemical/UV resistance, making washes quick and safe. Where rock chips are a risk—splitters, mirror caps, roof panels—PPF adds an impact-absorbing layer without hiding the weave. We can finish with either or combine PPF on impact zones plus ceramic elsewhere.
Heat-Managed Correction for a Uniform, Deep Gloss
Carbon soaks heat quickly. We keep rpm and pressure conservative, use cool-running pads and liquids, and shorten cycle time to avoid thermal spikes. The goal is even, repeatable clarity across the weave—no hot spots, halos, or haze. Where machine work isn’t safe, we switch to spot techniques that preserve edges and body lines.
Gloss, Satin, or Matte—Finish-Correct Choices
High-gloss carbon can be refined to a mirror finish; satin/matte carbon should not be machine-polished or you’ll add unwanted shine. For non-gloss carbon, we clean and decontaminate, then protect with matte-safe ceramic or matte PPF to preserve the original sheen while improving stain and UV resistance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can all carbon fiber be machine-polished?
Gloss CF with intact clear can be refined safely using heat-managed techniques. Matte/satin CF should not be polished—it will gloss. We clean and protect matte with matte-safe ceramic or matte PPF.
Will correction remove the “weave lines” I see?
If you’re seeing the weave telegraphing through thin clear, we can improve overall clarity but can’t change the underlying resin pattern without refinishing. We’ll set realistic expectations during inspection.
What about yellowing or clear coat failure?
Yellowing in resin and localized clear failure aren’t fixable by polishing. We’ll identify these during inspection and advise next steps (sometimes refinishing).
Should I choose ceramic or PPF for carbon fiber?
They solve different problems. Ceramic boosts gloss/slickness and chemical/UV resistance; PPF adds impact protection against chips and trailering rash. Many owners do PPF on exposed carbon (splitters, mirror caps) and ceramic on larger panels.
Do you offer mobile service for carbon fiber work?
We recommend in-studio for lighting, dust control, and temperature stability. Select inspections can be mobile; we’ll confirm when you book.
